Keeping our kids in care safe and connected - to family, community and culture.

Ngalla Bidee Mia, which translates to Our Way Home, is Wungening’s new program working with children in care who require out of home care services.

Wungening acknowledges that Child Protection has historically been a hurtful and traumatic experience for many people across our Community.

We’re proud to be part of the story shifting those experiences, bringing our strong focus on healing, family and cultural identity.

How to become a Community Foster Carer

Ngalla Bidee Mia is focused on the needs of each individual child, and their family. We’re committed to using Aboriginal ways of knowing, doing and being to keep each child safe, and connected to family, community and culture.

As an Aboriginal Community Controlled Organisation (ACCO) with over 35 years of experience, we know that Aboriginal children belong with their families, and our community. Proudly Aboriginal led, Wungening is the largest ACCO operating in the South-West region of WA.

Korangan Our story of change

The way we deliver and think about services is unique.

Flexible Services

Our holistic, family-centered approach focuses on healing the whole person. As such, we deliver flexible, responsive services, tailored to the needs and motivations of clients.

Authentic Connections

Based in the community we serve, with lived experience of our own, we develop authentic connections with clients. We walk beside our people, every step of their healing journey.

Aboriginal Ways

Our culturally secure services are grounded in Aboriginal ways of knowing, doing and being. We’re always accountable to our community and committed to making change for Aboriginal people.

Our purpose is to empower Aboriginal people to reconnect with mind, body, spirit and community.

To ensure continuity of care for the children, Wungening works alongside the Department of Communities and our partner, Parkerville Children and Youth Care.
