Daniel Morrisson CEO

Daniel Morrison-Bird is a Noongar, Yamitji and Gija man who lives in Boorloo, Noongar Boodja (Perth, Western Australia) as a proud father of two. Since 2010, Daniel has led Wungening Aboriginal Corporation as the CEO. During this time, Wungening has grown from a staff of 30 to an organisation of over 300, with a service footprint spanning the Perth Metropolitan Region. Originally an alcohol and drug counselling service, Wungening has expanded to now operate services for the community in youth and adult justice, Family and Domestic Violence, housing, homelessness and of course, child protection. Daniel is committed to promoting collaborative, inclusive relationships, where the Aboriginal community is encouraged to engage, establish their voice, work together to develop suitable solutions that help realise the bigger picture.

Keiran Dent General Manager

Keiran Dent is a Ngarinyin Aboriginal Man from the West Kimberley Region, who grew up on and now lives on Noongar Boodja. Before joining Wungening in 2019, Keiran worked at the Department of Child Protection for over 11 years in various roles including as a case worker, senior field worker, policy and program analyst, and Aboriginal Practice Leader. Keiran is one of three General Managers at Wungening, and oversees key programs in the child protection, family support, Family and Domestic Violence areas alongside other organisations we partner with. Keiran is a passionate believer that Aboriginal participation in all aspects of decision making is a necessary enabler of healing, and that healing is necessary to strengthen our families, create safety for our children, and address the ongoing impacts of intergenerational trauma.

Mabel Hayles Manager

Mabel Hayles joined Wungening in 2020, as the Manager of our Wungening Moort program – an early intervention program working alongside Aboriginal families to help support parents, and ultimately prevent children entering the child protection system. Mabel joined Wungening having worked in Government Departments including Health, Justice, and Communities, as well as the not-for-profit sector. Her roles have involved clinical practice, policy, project management and program management. With a degree in psychology, and masters in psychotherapy and counselling, Mabel brings a strong focus on frontline practice, supervision, research development and policy and strategy. Mabel aims to bring a collaborative approach to working with families, as she is passionate about working in ways that empower self-determination for all aspects of decision making.
